William John Stanton, 87, of Scotia, NY, died Friday, December 30, 2016 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY.
William was born on October 11, 1929 in Schenectady, NY to the late William A. and Winifred (Conley) Stanton.
He was a lifetime area resident. William graduated from Nott Terrace High School, Class of 1948. On February 18, 1951 he married, Eve (Lawrence) Stanton.
William served in the US Army, Staff Sgt., from December 1950 to September 1956, serving in Germany. He worked at GE as a Steam Fitter in the Gas Turbine Dept. for 15 years. William was a communicate of St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady, NY.
William is survived by his wife, Eve (Lawrence) Stanton; sons, William M. Stanton, Schenectady, James A. Stanton, Scotia and Daniel Stanton, Schenectady; brother and sister-in-law,
George and Elma Stanton, Saratoga Springs; sister, May Jess, Schenectady; grandchildren, Michael J., Glenville, Ryan P. Stanton, Albany and Cara K. Shahbandi, NJ; great-granddaughter, Chloe Shahbandi, NJ.
Services will be held, Thursday, January 5, 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Schenectady.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 4, 6 to 8 p.m. at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Ave., Scotia, NY.
Burial will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY.
Contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
