William G Hohenstein Jr.

William G. Hohenstein, Jr., 78, of Scotia, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in the Albany VA.

William was born October 19, 1938 in Albany, NY to William Hohenstein Sr. and Ruth (Towsley) Hohenstein.

He graduated from CBA in 1957, then went on to Albany Business College. He served in the Air Force. He worked in security and for Bank of America where he retired from. He was a communicant at St. Margaret of Cortona Church in Rotterdam Junction, and a member of VIP Stables Harness Horse Association. William was a sports fan, as well an avid harness horse fan and owner. He also enjoyed casinos and was an avid bowler.

He was predeceased by a son, Robert W. Hohenstein. William is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peggy Wood Hohenstein, whom he married on March 15, 1961; he is also survived by his children, William G. (Melissa) Hohenstein III, Elizabeth (Paul) Gadoua, Brian (Deborah) Hohenstein; grandchildren, Nikki and Jade Litchfield, and Jessica Hohenstein; great-granddaughter, Kendra Eagan; his brothers, Rev. Robert Hohenstein, Pastor Emeritus of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Schenectady; his sister, Janet (F. Forest) Gabriels.

Services and calling hours will be at St. Margaret of Cortona Church on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. with mass following at 10 a.m.

Burial will be at Our lady Help of Christians, Glenmont.
