William D. Hayner, 84 of Scotia, passed away on Wednesday January 18th following a short illness.
The family would like to thank the health care professionals from Albany Medical Center for their compassionate care in his final days.
The son of the late Daniel and Sadie Hayner, Bill was born on December 24, 1938, in Schenectady, living his 84 years in the same home in Glenville.
In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his sister Janet Hayner. Bill is survived by his brother Joseph (Dick) Hayner, and his nieces and their families: Heather, Anthony, and Sarah Milewski, and Jennifer and David Kaufmann.
Bill was a 1956 graduate of Scotia-Glenville high school. He was proud to be a veteran, retiring from the Air National Guard in 1998. He was also employed at Andy Woods Auto Parts prior to his retirement.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and boating, and working on cars. He loved spending time at his camp and second home in Lake Luzerne at the base of Potash Mountain.
Calling hours will be held on Monday January 23rd from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Bekkering Ellis Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Ave, Scotia, NY 12302.
