Willard J Bailey

Willard J. Bailey, age 84, passed away in his home surrounded by family on November 28th , 2022 in Scotia, NY.

He was born February 28th, 1938 to the late George and Ruth Bailey.

Willard was devoted to his wife, Genevieve, of 58 years. He was nothing short of altruistic to his loving wife, two children Martin and Dawn, six grandkids, and those surrounding him.

Willard graduated from Scotia- Glenville High School in 1956. He then enlisted and served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1966. He began his volunteer career at Scotia Fire Department John Miller Hook and Ladder after graduating high school. He continued his volunteer service at Beukendaal Fire Department where he served from 1964-2022.

Willard was self-employed as a painter for 40 years with the assistance of his wife. After retiring, he worked as a custodian at Beukendaal FD for 10 years. He was best known for riding on the lawn mower while smoking his pipe, or chasing the grandkids while they played around the firehouse.

Willard is predeceased by his parents, George and Ruth (Klein) Bailey, his siblings George and Mary Bailey, as well as his son, Daniel Robert Bailey.

Willard is survived by his wife Genevieve (Zebrowski) Bailey; his children Martin (Paula) Bailey and Dawn (Frederick) Curley; as well as his grandchildren, Stephanie Bailey (Michael Brust), Morgan (Daniel) Bonitatibus, Paige Bailey, Erin Curley, Julia Curley, and John Curley.

A celebration of Willards Life will be from 4pm-7pm on Thursday, December 1st at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home with a service the following day at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville.

Burial will be at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, open to all that wish to attend.
