Shirley Ann Godfrey, 70, of Ballston Lake on Monday, May 1, 2017 at home after a 1 1/2 year illness.
Born in Amsterdam, NY, to Joseph Robert Cetnar and Mildred Sophie Poremba, she was educated in Shenendehowa where she graduated in 1965 and Mildred Elley School (1966). She worked 1 1/2 years at Office of General Services, New York State, 6 years as a Security Guard at Wackenhut, G.E. TIPO Operations, Cambridge Road, Schenectady, NY, Retail Services, 20 years, Home Fabric Mills, Scotia, NY, and 5 years at Vickie's Corner Store, Clifton Park, NY.
Shirley was proud that she and Bill had celebrated 50 years of marriage. She enjoyed their many trips in their motor home, all the way to Alaska! After many trips to Virginia she liked to brag she could pass as a Southerner! She was married 11/19/1966 to William Fredrick Godfrey in Schenectady, NY.
Survivors include her husband, William F. Godfrey; sister, Sandra (Steven) Hussell; son, William (Melissa) Godfrey Jr.; daughter, Tina (Tim) Harrigan; nephew, John Watson; niece, Lanie Watson; grandkids, Jacob Strain, Noah Esmann, Riley and Madison Godfrey, Dan, Tim Jr., Joshua and Brittany Harrigan.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Service will be on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, Inc., 1 Mohawk Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.
Burial will be on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 12 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
