Schuyler (Sky) W. Weller, 85, born in Schenectady, NY, on March 13, 1931, died on December 25, 2016 at the Bickford in Midlothian, VA.

He leaves his wife of 65 years, Joan (Whitty) Weller, his children: Nancy Semos and husband Greg, James Weller and wife Maureen, Robert Weller and wife Maricel, Sandra Weller, Andrew Weller and his adopted daughter Debra Hood.

Grandchildren: Brian, Eric, Nicole, Curtis, Daniel, Amanda, Joseph, Jonathan, Adrianna and Rachel,2 Great Grandchildren: Dashel and Mark. Several nieces, nephews and many special friends.

Born and raised in Scotia, NY, the son of Leland and Gertrude (Jacques) Weller. He had two brothers: Elbert Weller who is 98 years old and living in Toledo, OH and Leland Weller who pre-deceased him. Sky was a long time resident of Scotia and always considered Scotia home no matter where else he lived. In recent years, he and Joan spent winters in Blackstone, VA close to his daughter and granddaughters.

After graduating from Scotia High School, Sky married his soul mate Joan and proudly became part of the third generation of General Electric employees following his grandfather, father and two brothers. Sky graduated from the GE Apprentice Program and the GE Manufacturing Training Program. He retired from GE after 38 years of service. While employed by GE, Sky lived in several different locations around the country but he returned to Scotia as soon as he could.

Always skilled with his hands, following retirement from GE, Sky enjoyed managing a Christmas tree farm and renovating homes. Sky was active in Scouting serving in many different adult leadership roles, he was a Sunday school teacher, he enjoyed his family, traveling, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Burnt Hills United Methodist Church and the Beukendaal Lodge # 0915 of the Free and Accepted Masons.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to any of the following: Burnt Hills United Methodist Church in Burnt Hills, NY; The Bickford of Chesterfield in Midlothian, VA; or the Alzheimer’s Association.

A memorial service will be held on December 30, 2016 at the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Ave, Scotia, NY 12302 with visitation from 10 AM to 11 AM followed by a memorial service and a graveside service.
