Sandra Ann Smith

Sandra Ann Smith, 74, of Scotia, NY, went to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family after a long struggle with ALS on October 31, 2016. Sandy is survived by her loving husband, David M. Smith; her loving sister, Virginia (Turner) Fredericks; her devoted daughters, Denise (Bill) Smith-Welsh, Darlene Newberry; and son, David C. Smith; her sister-in-law, Leah (John) Carlson. Also survived by seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Sandy enjoyed camping, cooking, knitting and reading. She also enjoyed going shopping and going for a ride on Sundays. Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, Inc., Scotia, NY with a calling hour prior to the services starting at 9 a.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice, St. Peter's Regional ALS Center of Albany and the Northeast Medical Equipment for all their care and support.
