Robert A Simkins

Robert A. Simkins, 71, of Fonda, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 7, 2017 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 24, 1945, he was the son of the late Alfred and Ruth Simkins. Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife of 40 years, Nancy J. Simkins (Wurz). He is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Judy) Simkins of North Greenbush; and daughter, Lori (Andre) Duval of Rotterdam Junction; his brother, Richard (Kathy) Simkins; his grandchildren, Alyssa, Derek and Braden Duval, Stefanie Simkins, and Ashley and Lindsey Champitto; and his fiancé, Caroline Kretser and her family. Robert graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School and Albany Business College. He owned and operated Hillcrest Small Engine Repair for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, boating, snowmobiling and spending time at his camp. He was a member of the Salisbury Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club, Fulmont Snowtravelers, Eagles and VFW Auxiliary. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, Inc., 1 Mohawk Avenue, Scotia, NY.
