Robert E. Prairie, passed away on May 07, 2025, at the age of 94
The son of the late Lawerence W. and Laurine (Cartier) Prairie. Bob was born on June 19th, 1930, in Glens Fall NY. Bob attended La Salette seminary in Hartford Ct., and St. Mary's Academy in Glens Falls, NY. Bob was communicant of St. Joseph's church in Scotia, NY. He served in the US Army during the Korean War, 1951-1953. He attended Le Moyne College in Syracuse NY and was inducted into the Jesuit Honor Society, Alpha Sigma Nu, and graduated with a B.S. degree in Industrial Relations.
Bob moved to Florida and travelled extensively and finally returning to New York to join his brother-in-law, the Late Andrew S. McCormick at the Scotia Insurance Agency in Scotia, NY. While there, Bob also followed his other part time profession, bartending at Saratoga Hall of Springs, Canfield Casino, and other venues.
Bob volunteered at many Fraternal organizations and the Glenville Senior Center. Bob enjoyed golf, reading, camping, and hiking the Lake George and Adirondack region. As a member of the ADK, he once climbed a mountain on snowshoes with his nephew.
Bob is survived by his sister Joyce (Andrew) McCormick and was predeceased by his brother Gerald (Eileen) Prairie and sisters, Marie (Robert) Daly, Joan (Loren) Blackburn, Claire Pfeifer, Eleanor (Sterling) Newman.
Bob leaves behind many cherished nephews and nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, extended families, and dear friends. He was affectionately known and will always be remembered as Uncle Bob or "UB" to so many who loved him.
A memorial contribution may be made in lieu of flowers to La Salette Seminary, P.O. Box 260127, Hartford Connecticut, 06126 or to the charity of your choice, in his name.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 2nd. St., Scotia NY, 12302 Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
