Rita Truesdell

Rita Truesdell, 77, of Rotterdam Junction, NY, passed away peacefully at Ellis Hospital on December 4, 2022.

Rita was born March 7, 1945, in Schenectady, NY, to parents Harold and Helen (Glen) Truesdell. She attended Mont Pleasant High School and graduated in 1963.

She was known for her whit and sense of humor, but she was most well known for her work ethic, and took pride in every job she had; her most memorable being her time working at K-Mart, and her time as a bar tender at Jimmy Dee's, where she made countless friends and touched many lives.

She also enjoyed volunteering and took pride in helping others, especially in her time as a junior bowling coach, and she remained a devoted member of the Rotterdam Junction VFD's Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her grandchildren, whom she proudly raised on her own, John Truesdell, Tiffany (Nicolas) Buzzo, and Joshua Fitzpatrick; her beloved great-grandchildren, John Truesdell Jr., and Ella and Ava Buzzo; and her sister, Susan (Joseph) Masi.

She is predeceased by her parents Harold and Helen (Glen) Truesdell.

Calling hours will be 10-11AM on Monday, December 12 at the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Ave., Scotia, NY, with a funeral service to follow at 11AM. Interment to follow at the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

A memorial mass will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Rita requested donations in her memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
