Pearl Lillian (Hursh) Burton, 96, beloved wife of Omer Burton for over 70 years, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2016 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady, NY. Born on January 17, 1920 in Philadelphia to the late James and Pearl Hursh, she was raised in Philadelphia and worked as an executive secretary at the Budd Comapany. She met her husband while he was a naval officer stationed in Philadelphia. They moved to Schenectady in 1954, and she spent most of her life as a resident of Scotia. Pearl was a truly devoted wife and mother. For many years, Pearl was a member of Beukendaal Chapter #635, Order of the Eastern Star, and matron in 1968. Pearl enjoyed sewing, baking, square dancing and playing bridge with her friends. She loved traveling and camping with her husband, and spending time with her family. One of her greatest joys of Pearl's life was being a grandmother. She loved to babysit and play games with her grandchildren, and to watch them grow up. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Janet Layden and her husband, Tim of Simsbury, CT; and her grandchildren, Kristen of Los Angeles, CA and Kevin of Cupertino, CA. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Catherine Hursh; and several nieces and a nephew. Services are Tuesday at Noon at the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, Inc. Scotia, NY.
