Morgan Bowers, 16, of Scotia, NY, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. She was born September 28, 1999 to Christina Mitzen Cross and Jason Bowers. Morgan was preparing to begin her senior year at Scotia-Glenville High School in the fall. Her smile was contagious and her laugh infectious. Morgan had two great passions. The first was her siblings; 13 year old brother, Joey and two year old sister, Evelyn. She would enjoy watching her brother play baseball, and would attend little league games to show her support. Whenever Joey hit a home run, Morgan was the one cheering the loudest. Morgan loved her sister more than she loved herself, and would spend time playing with her and singing to her at every opportunity. Morgan's other passion was music. One of her proudest moments was becoming a member of the 50-student Choralaires, Scotia-Glenville's premier mixed chorus of students in grades 10-12. She joined as soon as she could in her sophomore year. "I am unbelievably saddened by this," said Jessica Crisci, who directs the Choralaires. "She was so amazing. Her voice was just so powerful and her beauty from within emanated every time she performed. Our Choralaires family is distraught." She said Morgan "was quite a presence in our alto section. She was sassy and classy." She was so good, Crisci said, that she chose Morgan to perform a solo at Songtime in June, a rare honor for a junior. Usually those solo spots are reserved for seniors only. Morgan performed in the Drama Club's Les Miserables in March 2015 and tried out for The Voice television program last year. She had also been on the honor roll at the high school several times over the past few years. She was a regular at the Tartan Turkey Talent Show in the fall, performed in Harmonettes – an all-female singing group at the high school – and regularly worked in the stage crew for High School Drama Club productions. Morgan had a genuine love for others, and would reach out to anyone she knew who was in need of a friend. One of her friends so eloquently wrote, "I glance at these articles to find her described as, "teenage girl," as "person." Anyone who knew her, knows that she is much more than just that. She is beautiful. She is talented. She is sunshine. She is Morgan." During her short life she touched so many hearts with her kindness, generosity, and sweet smile. She will be greatly missed. Morgan was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Edward Mitzen; and her paternal grandmother, Nancy Bowers. She is survived by her mother, Christina (Wayne) Cross; father, Jason Bowers; brother, Joseph Bowers; sister, Evelyn Cross; grandfather, Donald Bowers; grandfather, John Powles; grandmother, Carolyn Mitzen; uncle, Edward (Lisa) Mitzen; aunt, Kelly Bowers; aunt, Laurie DeLeo; cousins, Emily, Nick and Grace Mitzen, Liana, Lorelei and Max Herrera, Avery Bowers and Nick and Jack DeLeo.
