Michael Victor Lawya, 70, of Harrison Ave., Schenectady, died Sunday, February 26,2017.

Michael was born October 26, 1946 in Schenectady, NY to the late Victor A. Lawya and Eileen G. Lawya.

Michael served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968, and he served in Vietnam for one year. Michael was employed for 42 years at Price Chopper, Golub Corporation in the meat department. He was a member of the Martin County Gun Club in Florida and of the VFW Post 1895 on Draper Ave., Rotterdam, NY, he was a lifetime member. Michael loved spending summers at Arrowhead Marina and RV Park, for the past 21 years. He loved target shooting at the Martin Count Gun Club. Michael also enjoyed boating with his daughters and grandchildren every summer.

Michael was predeceased by his parents and his grandson, Tyler Michael Hart. Michael is survived by his wife, Victoria (Macherone) Lawya, whom he married on October 20, 1968 in Schenectady, NY; his daughters, Michelle (Kevin) Hart, Nicole (Eric) Glogowski; four grandchildren, Courtney Hart, Megan Hart, Adam Glogowski and Ryan Glogowski; and his mother-in-law, Vincenza DeNofio.

Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Hall, St. Joseph's Church, Scotia, services will follow at 10 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be at Saratoga National Cemetery at 1 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Michael's name to the American Heart Association  , 4 Atrium Drive, Suite 100, Albany, NY 12205.
