     Maurice W. Goyette, 93, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, in Ellis Hospital, after suffering a stroke.  He was born February 24, 1924, in Hemmingford, Quebec, Canada, to the late Agnes and Joseph W. Goyette.  Maurice moved to Scotia, New York, at the age of 10.  He resided most of his life in Scotia.  He also spent many winters in Saint Augustine, Florida and summers at "CAMP", which he built, in Broadalbin, New York.  Many of his children and grandchildren still reside in Scotia.  Maurice graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School, in 1942.
     
Maurice Goyette served his country during World War II in the Army Air Force, from 1942-1945.  He was a Tech Sergeant/Air Plane Mechanic and Gunner, in the 572nd Bomber Squadron of the 9th Air Force.  His squadron flew sorties into Germany, while stationed in France.  He was honorably discharged, in 1945.  Shortly, after returning from World War II, he enrolled at Siena College in Albany.  At Siena College, he doubled majored in Biology and Chemistry, along with a Minor in English.  He received his Bachelor of Science Degrees, in 1951.  After graduating, in 1951, he returned to Siena, for a MS in Education.  In the early 70's he returned to college, receiving a Masters Degree in Library Science from Albany State University.  He was a teacher of General Science and biology, in the Scotia-Glenville School District for over 20 years.  During the early 70's, he was a Librarian in the Niskayuna School District, until retiring in 1980.
     
Maurice married Gertrude Farrell, on June 14, 1947.  The couple resided with family in Schenectady, before moving to Scotia where they resided for many years.  Maurice and Gertrude raised their 7 children, in Scotia.  Maurice was compassionate, generous, and an understanding man of deep Christian Faith.  He treasured spending time with family and friends at "CAMP".  His absence will be felt by many.
     
Maurice is survived by his loving wife, Gertrude Goyette and his seven children and their spouses; Maurice Jr. (Skip) and Brenda Goyette, Teresa (Terri) and Richard Harris, Richard (Rick) Goyette, Martin (Marty) and Anna Goyette, James (Jamie) Goyette and Nancy Martinelli, John (Jack) and Julie Goyette, Patricia (Tricia) and Randy Vanbrocklin.  He is survived by 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday, March 24th, at 10 a.m. from the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Avenue, Scotia, NY. Interment will be at 1pm at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
