Mary Jane Mosher Obituary

Mary Jane (Peg) Wentzel Moser Scotia - Mary Jane (Peg) Wentzel Moser, born in Reading, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a rich legacy of love and devotion. She graduated from Reading High School in June 1944 and married her beloved husband, Albert E. Moser, on November 23, 1950.

In 1953, they relocated to Scotia, New York, when Albert accepted a teaching position in the Scotia-Glenville school system. Peg dedicated herself to her family as a stay-at-home mom, cherishing her time with her three "boys." Her commitment to family was unwavering.

For 45 years, she was an active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, where she organized monthly pie sales with the help of many faithful "Holy Rollers." After her husband, Deacon Al, was transferred to Christ Church in Ballston Spa, N.Y., Peg continued her service as a member of the Altar Guild, greeter, usher, lector, and affectionately earned the title of "Minister of Hugs."A passionate volunteer at the Scotia Library, Peg found joy in nurturing her love for birds, particularly cardinals and hummingbirds, which she loved to feed and watch. Additionally, she loved roses and nurtured several rose bushes in her garden and when she no longer had a garden her "boys" would send her roses. She was a devoted fan of the Phillies and Eagles, never missing a game, and celebrated her 80th birthday at a Phillies game with her family, proudly wearing her team gear. She cherished memories of meeting baseball legends Bob Feller and Mike Schmidt. Peg's adventurous spirit led her on seven trips to South Dakota to climb Crazy Horse Mountain, the last at 84 years old, as well as a dream vacation to the Canadian Rockies and a trip to Hawaii in 2013 with her son David and his wife Amber.

Peg was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Elsie Wentzel; her brother, Richard Jr.; and her sisters, Anna Brunner and Marian Hinkle. She is survived by her devoted husband of 74 years, Albert; her sons Albert Jr. (Linda), Richard (Kris), and David (Amber); grandsons Paul (Nadine) and Eric (Heather); great-grandchildren Denise, Cheyenne, Anthony, and Jonathan; great-great grandchild Everly along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Peg's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
