Marlyn Joy (Willey) Mangano

With great sadness the family of Marlyn Joy (Willey) Mangano, 88, announces her passing into the hands of our Lord on August 19, 2021 after a short illness.

Formerly of Rotterdam, Marlyn lived at the Holiday at the Atrium senior living facility for the past 7+ years. She was the oldest daughter of three born of James Willey and Dorothy (Lachtrupp) Willey Neary Anderson born July 29, 1933.

Marlyn married her Nott Terrace High School sweetheart, class of 1951, and the love of her life Joseph Anthony Mangano on August 9th, 1951 until his passing in October 2013 spanning 62 years.

She was the proud and loving mother of three children, Joseph (Lori) Guy Mangano, Michael (Jan) Jay Mangano and Lynn Marie (Dave) (Mangano) Bertrand. She is survived by her sister Sandra (Willey) Capogna and her brother Wayne (Jane) Willey, her children as well as nine grandsons, two great-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two step-brothers Howard Neary and Richard Neary.

In her younger years Marlyn worked as an operator at General Electric and then later at Alfred's Fabrics in Rotterdam. Marlyn's true passion was being a mom and taking care of the family she loved so much. She enjoyed home-making, cooking, sewing, camping in the Adirondacks and visiting with family and friends. Later in years she and her husband would travel the US. She loved dining out and phoning her family and friends in the evenings. In her twilight years at the Atrium she enjoyed listening to music, bingo, shopping and getting her hair done every Thursday with her loving companion and care aid Amina Sukhraj.

Our sincere gratitude and loving affection goes out to Amina and her friends who assisted Marlyn during her care.

Calling hours with be held Wednesday August 25th from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home at 1 Mohawk Ave Scotia, NY 12302.

A burial service will take place at Saratoga National Cemetery on Monday August 30th at 11:30 a.m.
