Marlene Myers Obituary

It’s with a heavy heart we are sharing the passing of Marlene L. Myers born December 28, 1939, who was called home on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, to be with her loved ones.

Marlene was a beloved mother to, Craig (Diana), Christine and Kevin, grandchildren Nicholas, Clarissa (Max), Julie, Mercedes and Zachary (Kaitlyn) and great grandchild, Emmett along with many other beloved family members and friends.  Marlene was predeceased by her husband, Edmund, parents Frederick and Myrtle along with both her brothers Donald and Dayton.

Marlene was born and raised in Scotia, NY, a graduate of the Scotia-Glenville, Class of 1958 and lead a full life caring for her family along with working inside and out of the home.

She grew up on Spring Road and later moved to the family farm on Sacandaga Road, Myers Farm.  She spent many of her younger years working for A.W. Hammel Stair Company and as her family grew, she moved on to working part-time in the Scotia-Glenville School District offices, helped run the family farm where she enjoyed greeting and chatting with so many of the fruit stand customers.  She also volunteered her time to assist with the election poles at the Beukendaal Fire Department.

After spending many years of running the farm with her family, and as her children moved on to start their own families, the family farm was sold, and she began working at Town Hall in the Tax Collector’s office but continued living in her hometown of Glenville on Tieman Road.

She was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church of Scotia where she attended services for many years with her family and enjoyed many of the church activities including the Dutch Fair. Not only did she attend the Fair with her family but provided many homegrown fruits and vegetables from the farm to help support the Fair. She also enjoyed many different activities including gardening, cross-stitch, crocheting, caring for her family including her beautiful grandchildren along with spending time traveling to the beach with her husband and to see family and friends in Virginia and North Carolina.
