M. Virginia Pucci, at 94 years, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord on September 22, 2017 at Capital living Nursing Center. She died of natural causes after a brief illness. Her body was given to Albany Medical Center as an anatomical gift.
Virginia was born in Roaring Spring, PA on March 31, 1923, the daughter of Ruth (Brown) and Edward Butler. On January 24, 1943 she married Nicola P. Pucci of Schenectady sharing 62 wonderful years together raising their six children. Virginia was educated in Roaring Spring, PA and moved to NYS working at GE, the YWCA and Sunnyview until her retirement.
Virginia was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering at Annie Shafer sewing group. Making quilts and pillows were her favorite sewing projects. She was also active in many church groups including teaching Sunday school, helping, making and assembling Braille books, and Women of ELCA.
She was preceded by her husband, Nicola Pucci; her son Nicola Pucci Jr.; son- in-law David Friedman; grandson Robb Friedman. Also preceded by siblings, Regis Butler, Majorie Perry, Lois Rhodes, Glen Butler, and Wes Butler.
Survivors include sister, Jean Ayers; her children, Connie (Jan) Egger, Ronald (Shari) Pucci, Virginia aka Cindy Friedman, Curtis Pucci, and Carmen Pucci. Also survived by seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
The family wishes to express MANY thanks to the nursing staff, CNA's. rehab staff, doctors and nurse practitioners at Capital Living Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the LOVING care provided our mother. Also a special thanks to the Bekkering Funeral Home for all their advice and gracious help.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Scotia New York, the Diabetic Association, and Disabled American Veterans.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 2 p.m., at the church at 103 So. Reynolds St., Scotia, NY.
