Obituary

Linda Joan Schaefer (nee Thompson), 78, of Scotia, NY, passed away on April 16th, 2023.

Linda was born on November 10th, 1944, in Yonkers, NY to Lillian and Ottar Thompson.

She loved gardening and spending time outdoors. Linda was a graduate of SUNY Oswego and became a tenth-grade biology teacher at Mohonasen High School. Linda was a member of the First Reformed Church of Scotia. She enjoyed gardening, camping, and traveling.

Linda is survived by her husband Dave, her sister Donna (Bruce), her brother Bob, her son Brian, her granddaughter Brittney, and her great-granddaughter Oaklynn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Ottar Thompson.

A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home in Scotia. A service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Reformed Church of Scotia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Quilts of Valor Foundation (QOVF.org) or the First Reformed Church of Scotia.
