Kathleen (Voorhaar) Casey

Kathleen Casey, 82, dedicated wife and mother, passed away peacefully at home on June 27, 2023.

Born Kathleen Voorhaar on February 18, 1941, in Albany, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Voorhaar.

Kathleen grew up in Albany, and throughout her childhood she excelled in academics. Kathleen attended Saint Agnes School in Albany, later attending Syracuse University on a full academic scholarship, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education in 1963.

Kathleen began her teaching career as a 1st grade teacher at Draper Elementary School. However, after her first child was born, Kathleen dedicated herself to raising her family. When her children were older, Kathleen went on to have a long career in Insurance Underwriting. "Retiring" in 2003, Kathleen kept busy working part time at the Alplaus Post Office and served as the Secretary to the Commissioners of the Alplaus Fire Department, a position she held and dedicated herself to until her passing.

Predeceased by Harry Casey, the love of her life and husband of 58 years, Kathleen is survived by her siblings, Thomas Voorhaar (Bernice), Mary Colie (Matthew), daughter Colleen, sons Christopher (Kristi) and Edward (Laurie) as well 6 grandchildren, Christopher, David, Keller, Ethan, Delaney and Aidan.

A private gathering in remembrance of Kathleen will be held at the family's convenience.
