John A. Relyea, 83, a beloved husband, devoted father passed away on March 15, 2025.
John was born October 23, 1941 in Niskayuna, NY. He graduated from Mohonasen High School in 1960 and then enlisted in the United States Navy, John was on the USS ESSIX where he served his time with the navy. john was serving our country for 5 years and was honorably discharged. John then proceeded to work for himself where he had his own tractor trailer where he moved mobile home trailers-campers and all kinds of cargo up and down the entire new England. John also worked for Hicks Rubbish Removal Company where he drove garbage truck for several years, John then pursued a career at West Milton knolls Atomic Lavatory where he retired from as a large equipment mechanic and grounds manager for the property at General Electric/Naval Nuclear Laboratory.
John married Irean Linda kverek in 6/26/76, They spent a lot of their time camping and canoeing throughout the Adirondacks. John spent a lot of time doing all the "Wife projects" that were usually involving woodworking and all kinds of crafts that he loved to build and create. John and his wife spent a lot of their time in their motor home after retirement, traveling the entire US hitting most if not all states. They would spend most of their winters in florida where they enjoyed the warmth. John was also involved in large wide load escorting where he would escort wide loads up and down the entire northeast. This was his passion that he did with his wife and border collie (Tara lin) He continued to escort long after his wife passed up till his final days.
John is predeceased by his wife Linda Relyea, his parents Elizabeth Dean and Guss Relyea. also predeceased by brothers Alan Relyea and Bruce Relyea.
Survivors include Son Todd A. Kverek (Lynn), Grandson Luke, Kevin W. Kverek (Gaile) Grandchildren Krysondra and Nicole. Daughter Lynn Ann Grayson (Gregg) Grandchildren Stacie, Sydney and Shepard. Sisters Linda Stack, Barbara Alfree and Sandara Fain.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 23 2025, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday March 24 2025 at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home. A committal service with full military honors will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
