Jean L. Urbanski, 87, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 5th, with her devoted daughter by her side. Jean, a lifelong area resident, was born June 3, 1929, to the late Geraldine McNicol and Charles Miller (Richter). She attended Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake schools, along with her sister, the late Bonnie Jetter. Jean was married to her dedicated husband Art for 66 years, until his death in 2015. Together they made a wonderful life, and a lasting legacy for those who knew them. In the 1950s, they built a house on Sacandaga Lake, and it became the favorite gathering place for friends and family every summer. Jean was a gifted cook and always a gracious hostess. Her passion was serving others, and her motto was "the more the merrier!" She welcomed everyone with her beautiful smile that could light up a room. Jean was employed by The Wallace Co., in Schenectady, and later by The Edison Club, in Rexford, NY. She was a hard-working and dedicated employee. However, she will be best remembered for being an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was selfless, good-natured, and warm-hearted. She taught valuable life lessons and everybody loved her. She blessed everyone with her beautiful life. Jean is survived by her loving daughter, Terry Turner, of Scotia; her wonderful grandchildren, Aubrey Kinney and her husband, Bill, of Camillus, NY, and to her delight, her precious great-grandson, Emmett Arthur Kinney. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Ave., Scotia.
