Janet Ann Pickney Rotterdam Junction - Janet Ann Pickney, 90 passed away suddenly on July 26, 2024 at home.
Janet was born on January 4, 1934 in Schenectady, NY to the late James Harriman Phillips and Anna Carbone.
She attended Henry J. Ellers School and graduated from Woestina School in 1951 and went to work for General Electric Bldg. #273 as a secretary from 1951 to 1956.
Janet was married to William Pickney on January 24, 1954 that lasted for 70 years.
She is survived by her husband William, sons Dennis (June) Pickney of Rotterdam Junction and Stephen (Kandace) Pickney of Pattersonville, two granddaughters Sarah (James) Dowen and Jessica Pickney and two great-grandchildren Abagail Dowen and Kaleb Dowen.
Janet was a member of Woestina Reform Church since she was 6 years old and was involved in many functions of the church, such as being part of making the 200th Anniversary Quilt, Church Historian, J.E.M. Food Pantry, and Womens Guild President for 5 years. She also was a member of the Rotterdam Junction Fire House Womens Auxiliary.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting and reading.
Funeral services will be held on August 3, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the Woestina Reform Church 1397 Main Street Rotterdam Junction, NY 12150, Pastor Kent McHeard will be Officiating. Calling hours will be held on August 2, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bekkering Ellis Funeral Home, Inc. 1 Mohawk Ave. Scotia, NY 12302.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Janet's name to Woestina Reform Church.
