James H. Deyoe, Jr., 81, of Schenectady, NY passed away peacefully at home on November 22, 2022.
Jim was born November 19, 1941, in Glens Falls, NY to the late James H. Deyoe, Sr. and Alice Irene (Farrell) Deyoe. He was raised in Schuylerville, NY. He graduated from St. Peter's High School in Saratoga Springs, NY and attended Hudson Valley Community College.
He was drafted into the United States Army in 1964 where he served as an artillery surveyor. After being honorably discharged in 1966, he worked for General Electric for 33 years.
Jim belonged to the Northeast Antique Truck and Tractor Club and the Northeastern Draft Horse Association. He looked forward to his yearly hunting trips with his friend, Warren, but the deer didn't have too much to worry about. He was known and loved by many of his Campbell Ave. neighbors as someone who was always there to lend a helping hand, especially mowing a lawn or snow blowing a sidewalk. Jim was a former member of the Bellevue Preservation Association where he volunteered for many of their events.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of forty eight years, Susan (Williams) Deyoe; loving and devoted son Sean Mercoglan (Jennifer Beatty) of Glenville; brother of John (Laurie) Deyoe of Schuylerville; sisters-in-law Mary Margaret (James) Edwards of Gansevoort, Carol Williams of Gloversville (the late Charles), brother-in-law Larry Zotara of Schenectady (the late Michele); His niece, Goddaughter and caregiver Cathlyn (Brian) Masick; cherished uncle of many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and their families.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rana Jacobs and staff with Upstate Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Nicole Tetreault and staff, and neighbor Jessica for always being there to help out.
Services will be held on Monday November 28, 2022, at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, Scotia, NY. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 a.m. for those who wish to call followed by a service at 10:00 a.m.
Interment with military honors will be at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
