Hilda M. Clohesy, 98, of Niskayuna, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Ellis Hospital. Hilda was born in Schenectady Ellis Hospital in 1917. She was the daughter of Karolina and Adolph Zollner. She graduated from Scotia High School and attended the Universities of Cologne and Munich in Germany, and was a graduate of Katharine Gibbs School of Secretarial Science. As an avocation she studied voice and piano in Cologne and the Schenectady Conservatory of Music and was a church soloist. She was associated with Friedens Evangelical Church, Schenectady Museum, now defunct Crochets and Quavers, Union College Concert Series, Friends of Schenectady Public Library and Schenectady Historical Society. For many years she was employed at the Main Library (Translation Section) of the General Electric Company and later in the Modern Language Department of Union College. Her husband, Thomas J. Clohesy and her brother, Frederick Doering Zollner, predeceased her. She leaves a son, Thomas Matthew Clohesy and daughter-in-law, Nazan of New York City. Memorial services to which relatives and friends are invited will be held 3 p.m. Saturday (today) at the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, Inc. Calling hours, Saturday (today) at the funeral home, 2 to 3 p.m., prior to the service. Burial at Park Cemetery, Scotia at the convenience of the family.
