Harry Casey Obituary

Harry T. Casey, 82, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2021, at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. Born August 12, 1938, in Albany, NY.

Harry was the son of the late Michael and Anna Reynolds Casey. Harry grew up in Albany and was an Albany Firefighter in the 1960’s at station #6.

Harry is survived by the love of his life, Kathleen Voorhaar, to whom he was married for 58 years. Together the two began raising their children in the Albany area, and eventually settled down in 1978 in the peaceful Hamlet of  Alplaus.

Harry was very active in the Alplaus community having served on the Volunteer Fire Department, twice a Chief, for almost 30 years. Harry will always be remembered for the monthly Blood Pressure Clinic he offered at the fire department as well as the even better conversation he would provide. No one left his clinic without a smile or a good joke to remember.

One of Harry’s proudest moments was when he was honored as the Alplaus Citizen of the Year. Later in life, Harry took to watercolor painting and much of his artwork can be found proudly displayed in his children’s homes.

Harry was predeceased by his sisters Anne Collins and Margaret Moore.

In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by his sister Kathleen Tommaney, his daughter Colleen and his sons Christopher (Kristi) and Edward (Laurie), as well as his 6 grandchildren, Christopher, David, Keller, Ethan, Delaney and Aidan, all of whom he adored.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours at the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Ave, Scotia, this Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Harry, ever the lover of all things weather and environment related, asked that people plant a tree and think of him.
