Gladys (Downs) MacFee

Gladys Downs MacFee, 85, of West Glenville, died Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Ellis Hospital. Gladys was born on March 24, 1931 to Arthur and Edna Downs in Little Falls, NY. She grew up in West Glenville, and lived there most of her Life. Gladys graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School in 1949, and Mildred Elley Business School. She was employed at Scotia Schools, Acme Press, Schenectady County and NYS Tax and Finance as a Data Processer. Gladys was a member of the First Reformed Church of Glenville, where she was a Deacon many years. On July 10, 1949 she married her husband, Theron MacFee, at the First Reformed Church of Glenville. Her greatest interest in life was her family. She loved vacationing with her family in Cape Cod. She crocheted and sewed. She loved shopping with her daughter and granddaughter. Gladys is predeceased by her daughter, Sharon Kristel; brothers, Reverend William Downs, Ralph Downs and Wilbur Downs. She is survived by her husband, Theron MacFee; son-in-law, Bruce Kristel; grandchildren, Jennifer Cenzano (Todd), Jeremy Kristel (Maura); great-grandchildren, Cassandra Cenzano, Keeley Kristel and Kellan Kristel; several nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend the calling hours on Monday, January 2, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home Inc., 1 Mohawk Ave., Scotia. Funeral will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at First Reformed Church of Glenville. Burial will be in the Spring at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, Inc., 1 Mohawk Ave., Scotia, NY.
