Gertrude J Goyette

Gertrude J. Goyette, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22nd, 2017, surrounded by her family at Baptist Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady, following a long battle with dementia.

She is predeceased by her husband, Maurice W. Goyette; and is survived by her seven children, Maurice W. Jr (Brenda), Theresa J. Harris (Richard), Richard M., Martin F. (Anna), James R. (Nancy), John F. (Julie) and Patricia M. Van Brocklin (Randall). She is also survived by her 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Born September 1st, 1926 in Long Island, New York, she was a longtime resident of Scotia, NY, but later spent many years in both Broadalbin, NY and St. Augustine, FL. Mrs. Goyette graduated St. Columbus High School in 1943.

She met her husband, Maurice, shortly after and they were married on June 14th, 1947.

Trudy’s greatest joy was spending time with family, in both Broadlbin and St. Augustine. She was a woman of strong Christian faith, an incredibly loyal wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend, who touched the lives of countless individuals.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, December 27th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bekkering Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Ave., Scotia, NY.

The funeral service will be Thursday, the 28th at 10:30 a.m. , at the same location.
