Frederick C. Hwaszcz, 99, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Capital Living Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his loving family. Frederick was born June 27, 1916 in Blaine, Ohio, to his parent's Charles Hwaszcz and Mary Dziezenski. He married, Stephanie Hucko, on September 27, 1947 in Clinton, NY. Frederick was raised and educated in Utica, NY, and moved to the local area in the late 1940s. Frederick was employed as a master carpenter, millwright and machinist. He was a man of many talents. During World War II he proudly served in the US Navy in both the Pacific and Atlantic campaign. Frederick was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed time spent with the family. Over the years he liked to sail and snowmobile riding. He enjoyed gardening, played guitar and harmonica, and liked doing small engine repair. He loved watching and feeding the birds and had a devotion to the family pet, Jax. Frederick was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Stephanie; and brothers, Joseph Hwaszcz and Stanley Havis; and sister, Katherine Bonsel. He is survived by his children, Wayne (Cheryl) Hwaszcz, David (Joanne) Hwaszcz, Joan (Richard) O'Brien; and grandchildren, Rene (Stephen) Borst, David Hwaszcz, Jeremy (Silvia) Binger, Ashley Hwaszcz and finance, Jason Roney and Sierra Hwaszcz. Also two great-granddaughters, Giada and Brooklyn Borst. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial, St. Anthony's Cemetery Mausoleum. The family would also like to thank the people at Capital Living for the fine care, friendship and support given by the staff, residents and their families.
