Ester Mae (George) Ketchum

Esther Mae Ketchum, 95, of Rockrose Way, Malta, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2017 at Home of the Good Shepherd at High Point of natural causes. Esther was born in Frankfort, NY on December 6, 1921 to Vernon R. George and Helen Boardman George. She resided in Scotia, NY and San Antonio, TX. She graduated from Scotia High School in 1940. Esther was a furrier and seamstress at Mont Pleasant Furriers, Crane Street, Schenectady, NY and was also a homemaker. She was a founding family member of the Schenectady ARC, 1952 to present, Scotia Baptist Church, Rainbow Hills Baptist Church, Antonio, TX. On September 13, 1945, Esther married Jeff Lee Ketchum in Big Springs, TX. He predeceased her on September 7, 1983. She was the sister of the late Velma Hunt. Survivors include her sons, Vernon L. Ketchum (Audrey) and Jeff Lee Ketchum Jr., Jennifer Lynne (Robert) Moore of Fulton, NY, Jeremy Lee Ketchum of Oswego, NY, Cyle R. Haggerty (Billie Jo) of Malta, NY; grandchildren, Samantha Marie Aumiller, Briahna Haggerty, Alison Elizabeth Ketchum; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home Inc., Scotia, NY. Burial will be at Mission Park South Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.
