Edward Colligan Geier – of Rotterdam, N.Y., passed on 5/30/2022. He was born on September 28, 1937, to the late Edward Charles Geier and Grace Colligan Geier.
He was pre-deceased by his brother Willian F Geier. He is survived by his beloved wife & partner of 61 years Joan Anita Kindt Geier. They were married on June 18, 1960 and their 4 children, Edward Harry Geier Sr., Vicki Lynn (Grygas) (Tom) Nardini, Jeffery Kent Geier and Amber Lee Geier and 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
His Brother-in-law the late Harry J Kindt.
He had several jobs before getting an apprenticeship at Merriman Engraving.
He later joined the Albany Knickerbocker and Times Union where he worked for 31 years until he retired in September of 1999 at age 62. He received Employee of the Month twice. He was also Secretary-Treasurer of Local 259 GAIU for over 20 years.
He was a charter member of#47 of Esperance Elks Lodge #2507 and Past Master of Noah Lodge #754 FAM.
He loved his family and never missed a game that his kids played in high school. He also was a manager-coach in the Rotterdam Little League. Ed also enjoyed riding his Triumph chopper motorcycle, which he built in 1964. He also loved stock car racing at Fonda and loved drag racing. He drove the B-Fuel dragster for Northeast Speed Shop. He also loved home improvements as he was always working on their home. He also enjoyed snow birding in Florida in the winter months with his wife.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. at the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, Inc., 1 Mohawk Ave, Scotia, N.Y., on Monday, June 6th. The funeral home will be open at 9 a.m. for a viewing hour before the service. A burial service will follow at the Sloansville Valley Cemetery.
