Dr. Alexander Coppola Obituary

Dalton, GA - On January 9, 2021 Dr. Alexander Coppola, 31, passed away from natural causes in Dalton, Georgia. Born March 9, 1989 in Niskayuna, N.Y.

Alex was a loyal and loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, partner, and friend.

Alex had a lifelong passion for helping others. He served many roles in the Alplaus Volunteer Fire Department, including Explorer, firefighter, EMT, Lieutenant, Vice President/ President. He was a member of the Allegany Rescue Squad. Alex attended Niskayuna HS, Union College, and St. John Fisher’s Wegman’s School of Pharmacy. He ran track in high school and college, was a 4th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, was a certified rescue diver, belonged to AEPi fraternity, several prominent Pharmacist associations, and volunteered for medical missions in Peru, El Salvador, and Honduras. His publications, protocols, and projects all involve emergency/critical care and infectious disease.

Dr. Coppola has worked as an EMT for Mohawk Ambulance, and taught NYS EMT classes. His positions include CVS pharmacist/pharmacy manager (Charlottesville, Va.), Clinical Pharmacist (Olean General Hospital, NY), and was currently a Clinical Pharmacist in Dalton, Georgia’s Hamilton Medical Center.

Alex accomplished many great things in his lifetime, but his greatest gift to the world was his ability to make people laugh uncontrollably. “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” -LoTR

Alex is predeceased by his aunts Ines Colucci, Ines and Maria Campano, his Papa John Sorrentino, his grandfather Andimo Coppola, and his grandmother Pat Coppola.

Alex is survived by his parents, Andy and Janice Coppola (Glen-ville, NY), his sister Cassandra (Billy) Coppola (Glenville, NY), his grandmother Clara Sorrentino, his aunts and uncles John Sorrentino (Vermont), Tim Colucci (Florida, NY), Lynn Dennebaum (Schenectady, NY), Cathy (Mike) Visco (Glenville, NY), Tom (Tara) Coppola (Glenville, NY), his many loving cousins, and loyal friends; especially Dominick and Andrew Visco, Caleb Coppola, Omar and Isaac Hay (Alaska), Lea Dolan (NY), and Sarah Arthur (Dalton, Georgia).

A church service will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Saratoga Rd. Glenville. Burial will immediately follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, 27 Glenridge Rd., Glenville, NY.
