Dennis K. Austin, 76, passed away peacefully at Saratoga Hospital with his wife and children at his side.
Dennis was a kind and gentle man, and a devoted husband to his wife, Susan, of over 55 years. Dennis beamed with pride every time he spoke of his wife, two children, seven grandchildren or his 3 great grandchildren.
Born March 8, 1946 to the late Grant K. and Josephine M. Austin, Dennis was the oldest of 6 children.
Dennis graduated Scotia-Glenville High School in 1965, and enlisted in the US Navy where he attended radioman school. He bravely fought for our country in the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged Dennis worked as a machinist at General Electric for 38 years, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed fishing, hunting at his camp "Shanty Brook", camping in the Adirondacks and cooking. Dennis was a member of the National VFW, was a Paul Harris Fellow and major donor of The Rotary Foundation, and a social member of the Beukendaal Fire Department where he spent countless hours cooking meals for the firefighters.
Dennis was pre-deceased by his parents, Grant and Josephine Austin, and his brother, Wayne Austin (Susan M.). He is survived by his wife, Susan A. Austin, his children Stephen K. Austin (Kristy Noble) and Jennifer A. McPhail (Jeffrey); his seven grandchildren, Lindsey McPhail Anthony Auspelmyer (Rebecca), Cody Austin, Bryce Austin (Annie), Josie McPhail, Cheyanne Zullo (Austin) and Savannah Austin; and his three great grandchildren, Sophia Austin, André Auspelmyer and Jaxon Auspelmyer.
