David Zuend Obituary

David A. Zuend Castleton-On-Hudson - David A. Zuend, 52, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday January 11, 2026 in his home.

David was born on September 25, 1973 in Schenectady NY to Nancy and William U. Zuend. He graduated from Scotia-Glenville Senior High School, class of 1991. From a young age David showed his love of performing, he held many important roles in multiple drama productions with the Scotia-Glenville drama club as well as performed in shows at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady NY. David was known by many for his middle school talent show performance, dancing to "The Time of My Life" during his eight grade year. He was also a member of the Scotia-Glenville Senior High School Choralaires.

After high school, David continued his education at Schenectady County Community College where he took EMT classes for his volunteer role at Beukandaal Fire Department during his early adulthood. While participating in the fire department and completing his EMT courses, he worked as a carpenter helping build many homes in the area. Dave was dedicated to and took pride in his job as an electrician, not only at work but always willing to help on his days off as well. He graduated from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers apprenticeship training program in 2005, eventually joining the IBEW Local 236 in Albany NY.

Anyone who knew Dave would describe him as "The life of the party", which is a saying he lived up to. He wore his heart on his sleeve and would help anyone he could no matter the task. Dave's true passion in life was his three children. Some of his favorite hobbies were camping, fishing and hunting, attending various concerts, and most of all working with and sharing his knowledge with all three of his children. Anyone who met Dave heard how proud he was of his kids and their accomplishments. Whether it was Danny's success in his career, Derek's journey with the NAVY, or Ava's schooling and sports, he would tell anyone who would listen.

His love and devotion to his family was never a question.

David is survived by his three children Daniel Zuend, Derek Zuend, and Ava (Nico) Zuend. His parents Nancy and William U. Zuend, his four siblings Lisa (Eric) Zuend-Misner, William G. (Amanda) Zuend, Christopher (Tricia) Zuend, and Tori (Edward) Oliveri. As well as his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Private services were held at the convenience of the family. The family would also like to thank Don Bekkering with Bekkering-Ellis Funeral home for his dedication, kindness, and help during this very difficult time.
