David M Smith

David M. Smith, 78, of Scotia, NY, went to be with the Lord on June 29, 2017, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.

David was predeceased by his loving wife, Sandra Anne (Turner) Smith. He is survived by his loving sister, Leah (Smith) Carlson (John); his daughters, Denise Smith-Welsh (Bill) and Darlene (Smith) Newberry; and his son, David Smith. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

David was in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed camping, woodworking and watching NASCAR. He worked as a mechanic for 53 years, ending his career at High Mills Garage in Burnt Hills.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home in Scotia, NY from 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens.
