On May 1st, Carole Joan Edel Civale passed away peacefully after a brief illness. She never lost her love for life or the ability to touch others lucky enough to call her family or friend.
Carole was born on December 25,1937. She was the only child of Marian Mosher Edel and Clarence "Ike" Edel of Bleecker Stage, NY. After graduating from Gloversville High School in1955, she moved to New Jersey to become a ballroom dancer for Arthur Murray Dance Studios.In addition to performing in exhibitions and participating in dance competitions, she began a fifty year career as a sought out ballroom dance instructor. She was a loving and devoted mother and continued to teach while raising her three children in Scotia. Eventually, she served on the board for the Empire State Youth Orchestra, and became the director of the Schenectady Arts Council. She continuously pursued her love of music and dance throughout her life. She loved to travel and relished experiencing life to its fullest! She was a dedicated Brooklyn Dodgers and Boston Red Sox fan. She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
Carole is survived by her sons, Lawrence Civale and David Civale; daughter, Natalie Civale Noll; son-in-law, William Noll; grandchildren, Joshua Noll, Luke Noll and Olivia Noll; and great-grandchild, Vienna Rose, brother-in-law, William Civale, four nieces, several cousins and many friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the American Diabetes Association or the Schenectady County Historical Society. The family would like to thank the nurturing and dedicated staff at Eddy Senior Care and St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 5th from 10:00-11:30 at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home in Scotia. There will be a funeral mass at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Schenectady, followed by an interment at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Glenville.
