Bruce A. Loucks, 75, of Rotterdam, NY, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 9, 2023.
Born on October 25, 1947 to Martha Bekkering Loucks and Howard Loucks, Bruce was raised and educated in Schenectady, NY. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School, Bruce enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
Bruce married the love of his life Arlene Richter Loucks on September 8, 1968.
Notably he was employed by The Daily Gazette and the Mohonasen School District before retiring in 2005.
Bruce was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved nothing more than to spend time with his family and friends. An avid fisherman and hunter, Bruce spent countless hours outdoors. Favorite places to spend his time were the Schoharie Creek, the Great Sacandaga Lake and in the woods. He also enjoyed watching and discussing the Yankees and the Giants.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 54 years, Arlene, daughters Gwen (William) Diamond of Middleburgh, NY and Kristine (Michael) Choppa of Rotterdam, NY. He is also survived by grandsons Luke Diamond and Benjamin Diamond of Middleburgh, NY and Ronan Choppa of Rotterdam, NY.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 18 at 8 p.m. at the Bekkering Ellis Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Avenue, Scotia.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
