Bruce L. Kristel passed away on Monday, December 10 after a lengthy illness.
Born on February 13, 1946 to the late George and Margaret (Clancy) Kristel, Bruce lived in the Scotia-Glenville area most of his life.
He was a 1964 graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School. Bruce was in the Army from 1964 – 1967 and served in the Special Forces in Vietnam. He was a retired long time truck driver and also worked at Mohawk Ambulance and Hendrick Motorsports for several years. Bruce was a passionate DIRT race fan which led to his involvement with Hendrick Motorsports. He enjoyed his hunting & snowmobiling weekends in the Adirondacks. In his later years Bruce enjoyed vacationing, especially cruising with his beloved wife, family, and friends as well as many casino excursions.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was predeceased by his loving wife, Sharon (MacFee) Kristel; as well as his brother, Brian Kristel, and mother-in-law, Gladys MacFee. Bruce is survived by his children, Jennifer Cenzano (Todd) and Jeremy Kristel (Maura); his grandchildren, Cassandra Cenzano, Keeley and Kellan Kristel; father-in-law, Theron MacFee; brother, Brent Kristel (Lisa); sister-in-law, Joanne Kristel; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home Inc., 1 Mohawk Ave., Scotia, NY 12302 on Friday, December 14th, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 15th at 11 a.m. First Reformed Church of Glenville, 2172 West Glenville Road, Amsterdam.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks a donation in Bruce's name be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
