Bruce Bellamy Obituary

Bruce Warren Bellamy born November 4, 1944 was the son of Donald and Louise Bellamy.

A graduate of Scotia Glenville High School and Sheet Metal Union #83 Apprenticeship program. Bruce worked as a sheet metal journeyman for 12 years before he started his remodeling business in 1975. Bruce took great pride in his work and enjoyed working for hundreds of people in the Capital District. Bruce always said "Without your employees, you are nothing". He employed hundreds of young people many of which went on to establish their own successful remodeling businesses. Bruce gave them the foundation to build on for their future successes.

Bruce married his high school sweetheart, Sharon in 1966. They had 55 years of happiness together and worked together in their business, in the fire department and in Rotary.

Bruce loved his family and enjoyed being a grandpa to his five grandchildren. We loved giving them life lessons that he learned during his lifetime. Bruce's favorite hobby was beekeeping and he took his grandchildren into the bee yard to learn about the fascinating lives of honey bees. After retirement he took up golf and had many happy times playing in two leagues and other times with friends and his wife, Sharon.

Bruce loved their property and lovingly took care of the trails, gardens and lawn. He was always busy with tasks from his never ending lists.

Glenville Hill Fire Department was an important part of the Bellamy family. Bruce served in most positions as a firefighters and chief and as Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners. He received many citations when he retired from service after 55 years. Bruce's service to others continued in his involvement with Scotia Rotary. Rotary also became an opportunity for more travel throughout the world when they attended International Rotary Conventions.

Bruce and Sharon's love of exploring led them to many parts of the world. The last trip was in 2018 when they spent a month in Europe and they enjoyed this last trip immensely.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Sharon Levanway Bellamy, his son Gregory (Katie), son Brian (Tanya), grandchildren Ryon, Kelsey, Karri, Maya and Zachery. His sister, Donna Bellamy Rhodes. Brother-in-law Mark Levanway (Sharon). Also survived by many nieces, nephews and many cousins.
