Barbara Theresa (White) Williams

Barbara Theresa (White) Williams was welcomed into the Lord’s arms on Good Friday, April 14 after passing away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.

Born on May 3, 1936 in Syracuse New York, Barb was the daughter of the late A. Gregory and Ann White.  As a young girl, Barb moved to Trenton New Jersey graduating from Cathedral High School.  Married at our Lady of Lourdes Church on May 31, 1958, Barb moved back to Utica New York in the summer of 1975 where she began her career at Utica National Insurance Company.  After retiring in 1998, Barb moved to Scotia, New York where she resided with her daughter. Barb was very active in her church, St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Alter Rosary Society.  Barb was also a member of the Scotia Glenville Senior Center where she had many friends and enjoyed Tuesday’s Coffee and Conversations, bocce, exercise class, bus trips and the holiday parties.  In the Fall of 2015, Barb moved to the Meadows at Glenwyck. Barb loved the activities, holiday parties, bocce and especially all the dear friends she has made over the last year and a half.  You often had to call ahead to make plans with Mom as she was always busy lunching with friends or participating in one of the many activities she loved.

Barbara will be deeply missed by her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Ray Edic of Marcy, New York; Debra and Ron Schimpf of Scotia and Lori Doxie of Hershey Pennsylvania; her beloved Grandchildren Brittany Edic, Alyssa Irla, Danielle Schimpf and Joshua (Kaitlyn) Doxie.  Barb’s grandchildren were the light of her life and share many loving memories with their Nana.  Barb was greeted in heaven by her Granddaughter, Paige Ann Doxie.

Barbara’s family wishes to thank Schenectady Hospice, Home Instead Senior Care (especially Bibi, Edith, and Patricia) and the many family and friends who kept Barbara in their prayers.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Glenville Senior Center where Barb volunteered and attended for nearly 18 years.

Calling hours will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. on Monday, April 17th at the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Avenue Scotia, NY. Her funeral mass will commence at 10am on Tuesday April 18th, 2017 at the St. Joseph's Church, 231 Second Street, Scotia, NY 12302.

Private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Utica, New York.
