Richard M. Goyette, 65, passed away on February 14, 2018 after a sudden battle with cancer. He passed away surrounded by family at the Joan Nicole Prince Home in Scotia.
Born on October 7, 1952 to Gertrude and Maurice Goyette. Rick was a graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School, and had a long career as an electrician and was a proud member of IBEW local 236. He retired in 2017.
He lived most of his life in the Scotia area, but also resided in Saint Augustine, Florida for several years and during that time was a loving and devoted care taker for his aging parents.Rick was an avid golfer. He truly enjoyed being outside on the golf course with family and friends. He was also a boxing fan. Boxing in a few Golden Gloves matches in Amsterdam during his youth.
His greatest love, however was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with them. Rick will be dearly missed by his children, grandchildren, siblings and many close friends. Rick was a generous and caring person, always willing to help in whatever way he could, without hesitation.
Rick was predeceased by his mother, Gertrude Farrell Goyette and his father, Maurice W. Goyette.He is survived by his sisters, Teresa Harris (Richard), Patricia VanBrocklin (Randy), and brothers, Maurice Goyette, (Brenda), Martin Goyette (Anna), James Goyette (Nancy) and John Goyette (Julie).He is also survived by his son, Brian Goyette (Laurie); daughter, Michelle Battaglia (Dan); son, Michael Goyette (Nicole); son, James Goyette (Tosha); 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Saturday, February 17th from 9:30 to 11 at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, Mohawk Ave., Scotia with a memorial service to follow.
