L. Jacqueline Shartrand, of Scotia, NY, previously Cornwall, Ontario, died September 24, 2018 at home with loving husband George by her side.
Jacqueline was the daughter of the late Bernard W. Terrence and Maria Marguerite Terrence (Cousineau).
Predeceased by her sister, Beverly Terrence and son, David Shartrand. She leaves behind her brother, Bernard Terrence (Maria) of Cornwall and sister, Linda Cooke (Michael) of Mississauga, Ontario. Also grown children, Linda Forbes, Gail Cavoli, John Shartrand and Mary Moehle. Devoted Aunt to Jennifer Hindle (Terrence), Leslie Terrence, Liana Gallant (Terrence), and Kieran Terrence and Andrzej Terrence. She was the Great Aunt to five grandnieces and nephews in Canada. She was "Granny" to Nicole, Matthew, Sarah, Tommy, Emma, Alexander, Billy, Jefferey, Jackie, Grace, Casey, Jillian, Jacob and Jack. Great-Grandmother to Landon, Patrick and Colton.
Jackie earned her degree in teaching. She was an elementary school teacher in Cornwall Ontario. Jackie continued her career in New York at St. Clements school and substituted at many other schools. She and George were able to fulfill their greatest passion and love, teaching God's words to young adults through Religious Education within the St. Joseph's community, in Scotia.
She goes now to God in Heaven, to Whom she spent her life serving with prayer and teaching. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Joseph's church would be an alternate way to express condolences; or to a charity of your choice.
A mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's on First St. in Scotia starting at 9:30 on Saturday, September 29th. Family will gladly greet friends at 8:30 to 9:30, reserving 8 a.m. for family. With a Christian Burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
