Kevin Straut Obituary

Kevin Straut, 55, passed in a tragic accident on October 20th, 2018.

He was born on April 4, 1963, in Suffern, NY, and was the son of Louis G. Straut and the late Edna (Legg) Straut.

Kevin graduated from Burnt Hills High School in 1981. Kevin was in the USAF from 1986-1990. He was stationed at Alconbury in England, where his mom visited him and showed him her country. He was also stationed at George Air Force Base and Travis Air Force Base in California, where he met his love, Karen. He received his Licensed Practical Nursing degree from BOCES.

Kevin and Karen recently celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary.

Kevin worked for Baptist Health Nursing and Rehab Center in Scotia for 21 years as an LPN. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness to residents and family and the integrity of his work.

Kevin loved being outdoors! He loved to fish, kayak and take his boat out on the lake. He loved his NY Mets, Giants and Jeff Gordon. Kevin was also a cheer dad! Always there to help with his daughter, Natalie, and whatever team she was on. You could find him yelling the loudest, raising money or walking around in either SG Tartan or Elmira hats and t-shirts. He was always in the stands for his daughter, Kaitlin's, volleyball games and loved to joke around with all their friends.

Kevin was the loving husband of Karen; the cherished father of Kaitlin and Natalie. Beloved brother of Gaile (Kevin) Kverek and their two daughters, Krysondra and Nicole and Sharon (Joe) Zewert. He was the son-in-law of Becky Rozic, brother-in-law to Dave (Shellie) Rozic and uncle to Erika Rozic and Lillian Diaz. He leaves behind Aunts, Uncle, cousins and many friends. Also, his four-footed friends, Teddy and Chloe. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, James Rozic.
