Clifford Raymond Semerad, 85, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018.
He was an extremely respected brother, father, grandfather, Marine, Scouter, Scotia-Glenville Democratic Party member, Rotarian, Elk, retired Post Office Manager, devoted Catholic and a dear friend to endless friends.
He was born in Schenectady, New York on February 12, 1933.
Cliff was the eldest son of the late Edward and Helen Semerad.
He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School where he met the love of his life. He was the beloved husband of Joan Semerad for almost 50 years before she passed in 2010.
His involvement with the community was extensive. He was a lifelong scout doing countless stuff to further the boy scout agenda. He played a strong role in local politics, serving as Treasurer for the S-G Democratic Committee, became active with the Scotia Rotary, joined the Scotia-Glenville Elks, worked with fellow Marines on the Toys for Tots campaign, served on the Animal Shelter Board and was active with St. Joseph's Church in Scotia.
He is survived by his three children, Joseph, John and Joyce Semerad; his seven grandchildren, Maria, Nathan, and Ryan children of Joe and his wife, Amy, Emma and Dara, children of John and Joyce's twins, Cassie and Caylee. He is also survived by his only brother, Richard and Alice and their son, Eric and his wife, Amy and their two children, Heather and Rebecca.
The services will be Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Bekkering Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Ave., Scotia, New York 6 to 8 p.m. for the wake and the funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 231 2nd Street, Scotia, New York.
